Then fan started to cool again for 3 minutes and shut down and temeperature started to raise again to 96.. I am wondering who lets these design flaws through on the premium ThinkPad business line and why. I've tried this, but my laptop still shuts down without warning, and again, at random. Basically, if your processor gets too hot, windows will take the entire system down without warning. I don't want to send it in for warranty because I highly doubt there's anything they can do. Seems to be sleeping fine now, but only time will tell if it's 100% reliable. Here's what I would suggest:Open the event log viewer (on your keyboard, press the windows logo key and the letter "R" at the same time.
You are in the control group. Turbo boost overclocks it to as high as 2.9GHz when stressed. 100% = Turbo Boost on. 99% = Turbo Boost off. The rest is fine, searching for and launching apps is a pain, and I doubt I would enjoy the process on a touchscreen either. Lenovo Thinkpad Edge Shuts Down Unexpectedly It should not be doing that.

The only "blank screen" issue I have there is that it doesn't always pop up an "Updating" screen when installing Windows Updates on a reboot. i have some similar problem, but sometimes there's no issue with resuming after hibernation.
