Everything's been dandy up until about 2 days ago. Not sure how that would fix it, but for now it looks like the problem is solved. Microsoft has confirmed that one of the latest Windows 10 cumulative updates, KB3156421 specifically, is making some PCs really slow, and apparently this is a known issue. That was most likely the cause. In search box type "msconfig" Select Startup tab. It is now taking over 2 minutes just to get to the log on screen then about 4 minutes for my desktop to complete setup.
